Are you aware of your buying power? What goes into your body products, cleaning products and the food you eat?
The demand for palm oil is moving at alarming speed, it is expected to more than double by 2030 and triple by 2050.
Increased production has involved the clearing of virgin forest is South East Asia, destroying local communities and effecting bio-diversity and climate change.
Indonesia alone has 6+ million hectares of plantations.
This widespread deforestation is perpetuated by cosmetic and food industries.
As consumers we have the power to STOP supporting such companies and start purchasing from those who are palm oil free or certified sustainable palm oil users (CSPO).
CSPO can still be used to make our daily products. The key is SUSTAINABLE – this means without the expense of our beautiful planet.
What can we do as consumers?
Get informed! Read up on products we use regularly and see if they are palm oil free or users of CSPO.
If not, it’s time to find the companies that love the environment as much as we do, and start buying their products.
And of course, there is DIY if you are willing to get creative and make your own!
