Being aware of what we put on our body is just as important as what we put into our body. Using natural, paraben, chemical and alcohol free products that aren’t tested on animals, is something we should seek to do. After all, our body is our temple and we only have one for this lifetime. If you purchase products online and in store, make a habit of reading the labels, or better still make your own!

What you need

Salt/Sugar – Himalayan salt or brown sugar (the coarser the grain the more you will scrub away!)

Oil – Organic almond or grape seed oil work well. Adding in a couple of teaspoons of organic coconut oil will give the scrub an extra nourishing effect. This is ideal if you have run out of body moisturiser!

Essential oil – Fragrance is a very personal preference. Perhaps you would rather none, however, to invigorate go for lemon. To calm add lavender. To ignite some Venus beauty pop in some ylang-ylang. Or be adventurous, and add a mixture of some of your favourite essential oils. Stella loves combining a few drops each of musk, geranium, ylang-ylang and jasmine.

Method

Stir together 3 cups of sugar and 1 1/2 cups of oil.

Mix in 3 heaped tbs of organic coconut oil.

Add 3-5 drops of selected essential oil/s. If you are mixing oils add equal of drops of each unless you want one scent to override the others.

Setting the mix in the fridge should leave you with a coconut cream topping

Magic

Prior to the scrub, loofah your skin while it is dry.

With bare hands or wearing exfoliating mittens, rub the scrub in circular motions over your entire body. Be gentle, especially around the face and under the eyes as well as the neck and décolletage. (Though you may want to avoid your face or parts there of if you have naturally oily skin). Knees, soles and elbows require a little extra scrubbing. This can be done in the shower or in the bath.

Find pleasure in the self-worship and take your time. Give your gorgeous body love love love as you scrub away the old and polish the fresh, delicious you!

Stella Suggestions

Light some candles, put on some ambient tunes and sink into the tub while scrubbing.

Or

Set up a spa station for two with towels and buckets of warm water for a foot scrub while watching Sex and The City with a fellow Muse.

Best of all you can keep your Scrubaliscious Body Scrub in the fridge until it’s all used up and you’re ready to make some more!

Enjoy )O(
