Crash Out to Burn Brighter: 13 Ways to Motivate & Recharge

“How do you stay so motivated?”…

“How do you manage to do everything as your own ‘boss’ of a one woman show?”…

I only have myself to set goals, deadlines, coach, write, edit, refine, create and produce… There is only me to get up to some mornings, and me to bounce ideas off in the office & at work. Sometimes I can go a day not talking to anyone face to face.

While I can start and finish when I choose, eat lunch if and when I desire, take holidays when I want – if I don’t show up, step up and shine my brightest physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually there is no show. No coach, no writer, no mentor, no artist or speaker, no model or muse, there is no Divine Feminine Trailblazer, no magic, soul or spirit, to be of service.

What I have learned, and made a top priority, is to listen to my Divine body and the guidance of the Divine Source.

I can be ‘trying’ to work for hours. Physically I am there ‘doing’ things but my heart is not in it, my soul is most likely laying on a beach basking by the water and my spirit is fleeting too, so I bow out briefly, honour the Divine sent fog or roadblock and accept now is the time  to ‘crash out’ and pause so I can recharge and come back to burn brighter.

When I sense I am not in the flow, be it productive or creative, I will step back from the computer screen and allow myself to ‘crash’ on the coaching couch; pick up a book to read, study, and take notes with. Or I will watch a documentary, see an art house movie, meditate, do some naked yoga, even take a nap!

All of these exercises are a form of recharge for me on every level. My body gets to move if it needs to move, to lay if it needs to rest, like wise with my mind as my imagination and ideas kick in with fresh juice, my heart opens, my spirit lifts and I begin to realise THIS is working, THIS is living.

I have learned at the age of 30.5 that pausing is OK, and more than that, it is the best way I function. I have learned in order to have ‘ah ha’ moments, to have creative breakthroughs, new ideas, strength, insight, persistence and perseverance, wisdom, patience with self, tribe and clients, I need to ‘crash out’ to burn brighter.

You don’t have to be an entrepreneur or self employed to adopt the ‘Crash Out to Burn Brighter’ practice. You only need to make it an active way of life, by choosing to pause and ‘crash out’ when you feel, know and desire to do so.

Here are my fav 13 go to crash out practices that you too may enjoy playing with:

1. Read

I don’t often just read for pleasure, I choose books to educate and enlighten, inspire and invigorate my body, mind, soul, spirit, yoni and senses! So I have a notepad, pen, highlighter and coloured tabs to mark the pages as I go. Reading allows inspiration to flow!

2. Lay In the Sunshine (or eat/drink outside)

Always barefoot and sometimes naked, this is my grounding practice. A moment I share with Mother Nature, the animals, the wind, sun and earth. Calming, soothing or awakening when I have been inside too long with not enough natural light. While I don’t work in air-conditioning, being cooped up inside deprives me of natural vitamin D. The best way to ensure a daily hit is to start the morning with the first rays or pop out at lunch or with an afternoon juice for 10 minutes. (If there is no sunshine and it’s a wintery minus 10 for you, being outside for a moment to breathe in some air or near nature – if that is a condominium of plants – is still magical.)

3. Watch Inspirational Talks, Interviews, Documentaries & Movies

This post was born part way through watching an interview with Arianna Huffington about her book Thrive! Be them 2 minutes or 2 hours long, I often stop and pause my chosen viewing material many times to take notes; to share with clients, kick start a new post, write quotes to revisit, heartstorm etc. Visual stimulation offers a different perspective and an infinite pool of inspiration to fan the flame of your own creativity.

4. Paint & Draw

Swapping the office for the studio, turning on some calming tunes and creating on the canvas is art therapy and poetry in motion. It can be an emotional release, a creative outlet, or mini break from a screen. And best of all there is always something ‘born’ from time in the studio so you feel that sense of accomplishment be it on the canvas or within your heart & soul.

5. Prepare Nourishing Food

If any of you follow my Instagram you will see many an organic vegan meal, raw dessert, or luscious smoothie pic go up. ‘Crashing Out’ and creating in the kitchen is calming for me and provides instant gratification, especially if a current project I am working on is more long term and I am HUNGRY for a final piece! Best of all you can create something to share!

6. Exercise Outdoors

Sometimes I really need to move, while I can get revved up by YouTube’ing a music clip and dancing in the office, getting into nature is often what the body calls for. My ideal go to is a jog around the lake or ocean side, some yoga in the park or naked in the backyard. Moving the body moves blocked energy within, helping free you to refocus with clarity when you return to your workspace.

7. Cruise to the Beach

The cleanse that comes from just being by water is enormous, but to dive into the salt water of a cooling ocean is Divine. I feel reborn after a swim, some salt in the hair, some sunshine on the bod’ and some sand everywhere (beach sand is my fav natural exfoliator!). I’m all about body liberation and sun kissed breasts so topless is my preference … and just between you and me, if I can I slip my bikini bottoms off once I’m in and enjoy a couple of minutes sans swimwear before I pop them back on again and come out of the surf I’m one beaming Water Goddess. (If you aren’t near the ocean or sea, any body of water is therapeutic, even a bath or foot spa can calm your mind and help you relax.)

8. Float

Floating for me is not just about perfect nothingness and being blissfully alone with myself for a solid hour of pitch dark peace and quiet, it is also a spiritual experience. An hour float is a total mind, body, spirit and soul tool which I use weekly to meditate, align and cleanse my chakras, to speak with my spirit guides, receive intuitive downloads, and be open to insights. It just happens to be a bonus that while I do this my body is suspended in 500+ kg’s of Epson salt infused water which my skin adores and my muscles relax into with glee. This is also my idea of post workout perfection, (back when I had period cramps or was under slept it was a go to remedy as well!)

9. Yoni Worship

All hail the YONI! What I am talking about is making love to myself. Massaging my breasts, my inner thighs, warming my body up like a flower wanting to burst open in full bloom. With a jade egg or just my hands, I will take the time to admire, connect, love, worship and honour my yoni with sensual massage, words of affirmation, mindfullness, presence and loving kindness. This can be for several minutes or an hour or more depending on what my body desires. Happy Yoni, Happy Woman!

10. Meditation & Intuitive Journaling

While this is usually my morning ritual post-workout it can be at anytime during the day. Sometimes I just need to sit still in a sacred space, take some deep breaths, centre and turn within. I recite my personal mantra or focus on a specific I am‘ mantra before I check in with my guides, angels or any information that needs to come through to jot down in my mediation journal. I often use this time to do a mini tarot reading, pull a goddess card or do any ritual I am drawn to at that time while I am in this clear state of mind and Divine flow.

11. Reiki

As a certified practitioner of this ancient healing art form I often use this gift on myself to; rejuvenate, assist with calming my mind, ease myself out of or into sleep, or heal any sensations or ailments I may be experiencing – be them physical, emotional, mental, spiritual. Read more about my REIKI & HEALING HERE.

12. Nap

Yes it’s true, I embrace the power nap when my body asks. 10 minutes before a gym session, 5 minutes outside in the morning or at sunset with a dash of sun gazing, 20 minutes when I have given all I can give and need to recharge… The power of a brief nap can work wonders.

13. Water

Drinking 2-3 litres of filtered water a day, pure or with fresh organic lemon juice, sometimes even in the form of herbal caffeine free tea can really perk me up. If I know I’m not really ‘tired’ but I’m feeling a bit zapped, I ‘Crash Out’ on the bench, or take my bottle into the garden and drink, drink, drink. Hydration is a key component of our every day health and wellbeing and it is such a nourishing way to burn brighter!

This article is dead on! I have stopped trying to just “push to get through it.” Taking breaks to energize my spirit helps me to recharge and produce my best work.
